SHARPS DISPOSAL SYSTEMS
What goes into smaller collection containers vs. larger collection containers? Can I dump my loose sharps into one of the larger collection container systems?
Individual sharps, like needles and lancets, as well as other used healthcare materials, may be disposed of in our smaller FDA-approved containers. Collection containers over 3 gallons may not contain loose sharps – these large collection containers are designed to hold several smaller collection containers. You must first secure all sharps in a container under 3 gallons, then place those containers into the larger collection container system for disposal.
I already have waste that needs to be picked up. Can you help me?
To dispose of your sharps and other used healthcare materials, simply purchase any collection container system over 3 gallons. As long as all sharps are already secured in smaller FDA-approved sharps containers, you can place them in the larger collection container system for disposal.
Is there a weight limit for collection container systems?
Yes, all collection container systems have a 50 lb. weight limit. If your system exceeds 50 lbs., additional fees for pickup and disposal may apply.
Can I use your larger Collection Container Systems to store and return different sizes/types of collection containers?
Any FDA-approved sharps container under 3 gallons can be stored inside of our larger (5- 8- 18- and 28-gallon) Collection Container Systems. However, if you purchased any of our smaller Collection Container Systems under 3 gallons should be returned together using the pre-paid return shipping box that is included with your system.
What documentation am I required to keep for my records?
Depending on your state requirements you may be required to store your manifest on site for several years. This form is included with your order. Once you sign the manifest, remove your copy and store it in your office. Proof of destruction will be provided online – contact our Customer Support team for more details.
Can I put the manifest form inside of the shipping box and ship it?
Yes. There is a plastic pouch located on the bottom of flap number 4 on every shipping system. Place the manifest here before shipping to ensure accurate tracking.
I purchased a Multi-Pack System and I want to return just one of the containers. Can I do that?
With a Multi-Pack System, you must wait until all containers have been filled before shipping your entire system back. We recommend all users review our State and Federal Regulations page or contact our Customer Support team to determine how long to store waste onsite.
What do I do if I can’t find the original return shipping box?
Please contact Customer Support to order a new box.
Can I put liquids in any of these systems?
Yes. You may put up to 50ml of liquid in each of the collection containers.
Does the return shipping label ever expire?
No, the pre-paid shipping label does not expire; however, please check your state’s regulations regarding how long waste may be stored on site. If you’re unsure of your state’s regulations, please visit our State and Federal Regulations page or contact Customer Support.
Can I dispose of teeth in this system?
Yes, teeth may be placed into a sharps container container system as long as the tooth does not contain amalgam fillings. If a tooth does contain an amalgam filling, it must be disposed of using a scrap amalgam container, which are also available through PureWay.
DENTAL AMALGAM SEPARATORS
Do PureWay amalgam separators work with a dry vacuum or wet vacuum system?
Our separators are compatible with both dry vacuums and wet vacuums. Installation differs depending on the type of vacuum system you have, but all of the installation details are covered in the directions provided.
Do you install the separators?
No, but our separators are very easy to install – most of our customers do it themselves. If you’re not comfortable installing it yourself, your suction system servicer might be able to install it for you. Alternatively, we’d be happy to connect you with a third-party service technician.
Does the separator require any maintenance?
The separators do not require any maintenance other than replacing the collection canister once full or every 12 months, whichever comes first.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No contracts are required; just purchase the separator and the replacement canister as needed.
What if I forget to replace the canister after twelve months?
Our support team will remind you to check your system to help make sure that the canister is replaced in a timely manner.
How can I dispose of scrap amalgam, such as teeth with amalgam fillings? Can you take that as well?
Scrap amalgam, including teeth with amalgam fillings, must be disposed of via our scrap amalgam container.
